Flowers Online Delivery: Ordering a Bouquet to Russia from Anywhere

Flowers online delivery means you choose a bouquet on a website, pay online and a courier brings it to the recipient's door, so you never have to be in the same city or country. We deliver across Russia: city delivery costs 500 RUB, express delivery in large cities takes 1 to 2 hours after the order is confirmed, and in Saint Petersburg delivery runs around the clock.

Pyat Tsvetov has been making bouquets in Saint Petersburg since 2011, in three of our own shops, on Ilyushina Street, Obvodny Canal Embankment and Srednerogatskaya Street. Many of our orders now come from people abroad who cannot walk into the shop, and they phone us with the same practical questions: how to judge a bouquet from a photo, which time to choose, what to write in the address field and how to pay with a foreign card. Below are the answers, in the order you will need them.

Choosing a bouquet on screen

The most common worry is size. A photo on a white background hides scale, so look at the number of stems and the flower types in the description rather than at how full the picture looks. Seven large-headed roses make a compact, elegant bouquet; fifteen spray roses with greenery look wider and more relaxed. If the recipient lives in a small flat or works in an office, a mid-sized bouquet is more practical than an armful that will not fit any vase they own.

Think about season and longevity too. Chrysanthemums, alstroemeria, carnations and roses easily last a week or more, while peonies, tulips and garden-style ranunculus are more delicate and open quickly. For someone you want to remember you for a long time, a sturdy bouquet is the better gift; for a single evening such as a date or a premiere, the delicate flowers give more drama.

Occasion shapes the choice as much as taste does. For a birthday or anniversary, customers usually go for roses or a bright mixed bouquet; for a thank-you to a doctor or teacher, a restrained composition in white, green and pastel tones; for a new mother, soft white and pink flowers without a heavy scent. A bouquet in a box with floral foam is convenient when the recipient may not have a vase at hand, for example in a hotel room, a hospital ward or a student dormitory.

Colour carries meaning in Russia, and small bouquets should have an odd number of stems, because even numbers are associated with funerals. If you are unsure about the meaning of a colour or about a flower for a particular person, call us on 8 (812) 507-67-05 and a florist will talk you through the options in our catalogue.

Picking the delivery time

There are four ways to time an order. Express delivery in large cities takes 1 to 2 hours after the order is confirmed, which suits a last-minute birthday you only just remembered. An exact time, accurate to plus or minus 30 minutes, works for surprises at a restaurant table or a station platform. Time windows of 09-12, 12-15, 15-18 and 18-21 are the easiest choice when you simply want the flowers to arrive on the right day while the person is home.

The fourth way is a pre-order, placed from 1 to 30 days ahead. For 8 March, Valentine's Day, the first of September and New Year we recommend it strongly, because those days are the busiest of the year in Russia. In Saint Petersburg delivery runs around the clock, so an order for late evening or even early morning is possible in our city.

When you order from abroad, remember that every time on our site is the recipient's local time. Russia covers eleven time zones, so a window in Moscow or Saint Petersburg is not the same hour as one in Siberia or the Far East. Check the city's time before you choose.

Filling in the address and recipient details

Most delivery delays come from incomplete addresses, not from traffic. Russian cities are built around large apartment blocks, so give the street, building number, building section if there is one (korpus), entrance (podyezd), floor and flat number, plus the door code if you know it. A recipient's mobile number is just as important: the courier calls about 15 minutes before arriving to make sure someone is there and to get through the entrance door.

If the recipient turns out not to be home, the bouquet does not simply come back. We agree a second delivery on the same day or, if you give your consent, hand the flowers to a neighbour or concierge. For offices, hospitals and hotels, add the company name, department or room number, and the name of a reception desk if visitors cannot go upstairs.

Delivery to smaller towns and suburbs works the same way, though the operator confirms the delivery price for remote districts and suburbs when confirming the order. Our guides to towns such as Krasnokamsk and Vladikavkaz show what to expect outside the big cities.

Paying and writing the card

Payment is made online on the site by bank card, SBP or Yandex Pay. Foreign bank cards are accepted through Robokassa, which is what most of our customers abroad use. Because the order is paid in full before delivery, the recipient receives the flowers with nothing to pay.

The card with your text is free, and it is worth taking a moment over. Two or three warm sentences fit best; longer letters are better sent separately. Write in the language the recipient reads most easily. For older relatives that is often Russian, and even a short 'S lyubovyu' ('With love') written in Latin letters will be understood by most people.

Think ahead about the wording for formal occasions. For a business contact, a line of congratulations with your full name and company is enough. For condolences, keep the card very short and simple, and choose a bouquet in white or muted tones with an even number of flowers only if it is meant for a funeral or memorial.

Delivery is anonymous by default, which means the courier does not name the sender. That is ideal for a secret admirer or a surprise from a colleague, but if you want to be recognised, sign your name on the card clearly. Customers sometimes forget this and the recipient spends a pleasant but confusing day guessing.

Helping the bouquet last after delivery

The recipient can double the life of a bouquet with a few minutes of care. Trim each stem by two or three centimetres at an angle with a sharp knife or secateurs, remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline, and put the flowers into a clean vase with cool water. Change the water every day or two and trim the stems again each time.

Keep the vase away from radiators, direct sun and bowls of fruit, which release ethylene and speed up wilting. Russian flats are well heated in winter, so a cooler windowsill or a hallway at night helps a great deal. Roses with drooping heads can often be revived by recutting the stems and standing them in deep water for a couple of hours.

A bouquet delivered in a box with floral foam needs a different approach: do not take the flowers out, just add a little water to the foam every day so it stays damp. Any florist question can be answered by phone on 8 (812) 507-67-05, and full delivery and payment conditions are on our delivery page.
