Free Delivery Flowers: How Delivery Costs Really Work

Flower delivery is almost never truly free: when a shop advertises free delivery, the cost of the courier is usually built into the bouquet price, tied to a minimum order or limited to a small zone and slow time slots. The useful comparison is the total you pay for the bouquet you actually want, delivered when you need it. With us, city delivery costs 500 RUB as a separate, visible line, and for remote districts and suburbs the operator confirms the price when confirming the order.

Customers in our Saint Petersburg shops ask about free delivery all the time, especially those ordering from abroad who are comparing several sites at once. Below we explain how free delivery offers are usually structured, which hidden conditions to look for, what you do get at no extra cost when you order from us, and how to plan an order so the delivery fee is the smallest part of the decision.

How free delivery offers are usually structured

A courier's time, fuel or transport and the packaging that keeps a bouquet safe in transit all cost money on every order. A shop that does not charge for delivery still pays for it, so the cost reappears somewhere else. The most common place is the bouquet price itself: two identical bouquets, one with free delivery and one with a separate fee, often end up costing the buyer about the same.

The second common structure is a threshold. Delivery is free only above a certain order total, which nudges you towards a larger bouquet than you planned. That is fine if you wanted a bigger gift anyway, but it is worth checking whether the 'free' option has actually made your order more expensive.

The third is a restriction on where and when. Free delivery may cover only the central part of a city, only standard daytime slots, or only orders placed a day in advance. Express delivery, exact times, evening windows and suburbs are then charged separately. Reading these conditions before you order saves an unpleasant surprise at checkout.

What to compare instead of the word 'free'

Compare the final total for the same bouquet, with the same delivery time, to the same address. Add the bouquet price, the delivery fee and any charges for an exact time or a card. That single number is the only fair basis for comparison, and it often shows that a visible delivery fee is the more honest and sometimes the cheaper option.

Then compare what the price includes. Ask whether the recipient will be called before the courier arrives, what happens if nobody is home, whether the delivery is anonymous, and whether a card with your message is included. For gifts sent from another country these details matter more than a few hundred roubles, because you cannot step in yourself if something goes wrong at the door.

Finally, look at timing options. If you need flowers at a specific hour, for a birthday breakfast or before a ceremony, a cheap delivery in an all-day window is not the same service as delivery at a set time. Decide what you need first, then compare prices for that service.

A practical test we suggest to customers is to price the same mid-sized bouquet on two or three sites for the same address and the same evening window, then write down the totals. The differences are often smaller than the advertising suggests, and the order with a separate delivery fee is frequently the one where you can see exactly what you are paying for and choose the time that suits the recipient.

What delivery costs with us, and what it includes

We deliver flowers across Russia. City delivery costs 500 RUB, shown openly rather than folded into the bouquet price. For remote districts and suburbs the price depends on the distance, so the operator confirms it when confirming your order, before anything is finalised. You can see the details on our delivery and payment page.

That fee covers more than the drive. Delivery is anonymous by default: the courier does not name the sender unless you sign the card. The courier calls the recipient about 15 minutes before arrival, so the flowers are not left waiting. If the recipient is not there, we agree a second delivery the same day or hand the flowers to a neighbour or concierge, but only with your consent.

In large cities express delivery takes 1-2 hours after the order is confirmed. You can also choose an exact time, plus or minus 30 minutes, a window of 09-12, 12-15, 15-18 or 18-21, or pre-order 1-30 days ahead. In Saint Petersburg, where our three own shops have worked since 2011, delivery is available around the clock, including late evening and night orders.

What you get at no extra cost

A card with your own text is free with every order. For many customers abroad it is the most important part of the gift, because it is how the recipient knows who thought of them and why. Write it in Russian or English; a short, personal line usually works better than a long message, and if you want to stay anonymous, simply leave your name off.

Online payment on the site is available by bank card, SBP and Yandex Pay, and foreign bank cards are accepted via Robokassa, so you do not need a Russian card or a relative in Russia to pay for you. If you have a question before ordering, about an address, a time or a bouquet, call us on 8 (812) 507-67-05.

Anonymity is also included rather than sold as an extra. Some customers want a surprise to stay a surprise until the recipient reads the card, others want no name at all, for example when sending flowers to a colleague or to someone they have just met. In both cases there is nothing to add at checkout: by default the courier simply hands over the bouquet without saying who it is from, and the card says as much or as little as you write.

How to keep the total low without cutting the gift

Choose by size and season rather than by the delivery line. A compact bouquet of seasonal flowers, such as tulips in spring or chrysanthemums and alstroemeria in autumn, often looks fuller than a small bunch of premium roses at the same total. Browse the bouquets catalogue with the occasion in mind, and remember that in Russia a bouquet for the living should have an odd number of main stems.

Plan ahead when you can. Pre-ordering 1-30 days in advance lets you pick a convenient time window without paying for urgency elsewhere in your budget, and it is the calmest way to cover dates such as 8 March, 1 September or a birthday that falls on a busy holiday. Giving the full address with the entrance, floor, flat and intercom code also avoids a second trip.

If the recipient lives outside a big city, ask for the delivery price when you order rather than guessing, since the operator confirms it for remote districts and suburbs. Our guides for towns such as Vladikavkaz explain zones and timing in more detail, which helps when you are sending flowers to a smaller place from abroad.
