Launch Event Flowers: A Practical Guide from Our Shop
Launch event flowers usually fall into three groups: a congratulatory bouquet sent to a company or person celebrating a launch, bouquets presented to speakers and hosts on the day, and a few arrangements for the reception desk or welcome table. The safest choice is a compact, long-lasting bouquet in the brand's colours or in neutral white and green, delivered on the morning of the event.
Corporate clients have been ordering from Pyat Tsvetov (5 Flowers) since 2011, and the same questions come up every time: how big, which colours, what to write on the card and when to deliver. Below are our answers, based on what works in practice at product presentations, store openings and new office launches in Russia.
The Most Common Request: Congratulating a Business Contact on Their Launch
Most launch orders we receive are not for decoration but for congratulations. A supplier, investor or long-standing client wants to mark a business contact's new product, new branch or new brand. In Russian business culture a bouquet with a card from your company is a recognised and welcome gesture, and it is often displayed at the entrance or on stage for the whole day, so other guests see who sent it.
For this purpose we recommend a bouquet that stands well on its own: a hatbox or box arrangement, or a bouquet in water-retaining packaging that needs no vase. Event staff rarely have time to look for vases, and an arrangement that can be placed straight on a table will look fresh until the last guest leaves. Roses, chrysanthemums, eustoma and alstroemeria all hold up well through a long day indoors.
Address the card to the company or to the head of the project by name, and sign it with your company name rather than an individual signature. A short text works best: congratulations on the launch, wishes of success and a line about your work together. The card is free, and our staff will write the text exactly as you send it.
Flowers for Speakers, Hosts and Key Guests
At presentations in Russia it is customary to thank speakers, moderators and invited guests with flowers at the end of their talk or at the close of the event. For this, smaller hand-tied bouquets are better than large compositions: the person has to carry the bouquet off stage, pose for photos and take it home on public transport or in a taxi. A bouquet of 15-25 stems in neat paper is the usual size.
Keep the bouquets identical or nearly identical if several people receive them on stage at once; differences in size are noticed and can be awkward. If you need to single out one person, such as the founder or a guest of honour, choose the same style in a larger size rather than a completely different bouquet.
Remember the old Russian custom that living flowers are given in odd numbers, while even numbers are associated with mourning. In large bouquets of more than about fifteen stems nobody counts, but for small bouquets of five, seven or nine stems it is worth keeping to an odd number.
Bouquets we can deliver
Matching Colours to the Brand and the Venue
Clients often ask whether flowers should match the corporate colours. When the brand palette includes red, blue, orange or green, a bouquet in the same tone looks deliberate and photographs well against branded walls and banners. Blue is the hardest colour to find in natural flowers; hydrangea, delphinium and eryngium are the realistic options, and white flowers with blue ribbon is often the more elegant solution.
If the brand palette is black, grey or a strong neon, do not try to copy it in flowers. White and green bouquets work with almost any corporate identity and look clean in photos. For a tech or financial launch, monochrome white roses or white chrysanthemums with eucalyptus are a dependable choice; for fashion, beauty or food brands, softer mixes of pink and peach suit the mood better.
Avoid heavily scented flowers such as lilies in rooms where people eat, drink or sit close together for a long time. Scent that is pleasant at home can become overwhelming in a conference hall, and some guests are sensitive to it.
Timing and Delivery: Getting the Flowers There Before the Doors Open
For launches, timing matters more than for any other occasion. We advise delivering 1-3 hours before guests arrive: early enough for the team to place the flowers, late enough that they still look fresh in the evening. You can order delivery at an exact time with an accuracy of plus or minus 30 minutes, or choose a window such as 09-12 or 15-18.
Pre-order as soon as the date is fixed; orders can be placed 1 to 30 days ahead. If plans change at the last minute, express delivery in large cities is possible within 1-2 hours of the order being confirmed. In Saint Petersburg we deliver around the clock, which helps when an evening launch is followed by a late reception or when flowers are needed early in the morning before set-up.
Give us the name and phone number of a person who will actually be at the venue, not just the company switchboard. The courier calls the recipient about 15 minutes before arrival. If that person is busy, we agree a second delivery the same day or, with your consent, hand the flowers to a colleague or the venue's concierge.
Sending Launch Flowers from Abroad
Many of our corporate orders come from companies and people outside Russia who want to congratulate a Russian business contact. You can choose a bouquet in the bouquets catalogue and pay online by bank card, SBP or Yandex Pay; foreign bank cards are also accepted through Robokassa. City delivery costs 500 RUB, and for remote districts and suburbs the operator confirms the price when confirming the order.
Delivery is anonymous by default: the courier does not name the sender. For a business congratulation you will usually want the opposite, so make sure your company name is on the card. Full conditions are on the delivery and payment page, and if you need to clarify the venue, timing or card wording, call us on 8 (812) 507-67-05.
For larger projects, our articles on flowers for a product launch event in Russia and flower budgets for corporate events cover planning in more detail.
Keeping Launch Flowers Fresh Through a Long Day
Conference halls are warm and dry, and stage lights add heat. Ask the venue team to keep bouquets away from heaters, spotlights and the doors where cold air comes in. Arrangements in floral foam should be topped up with a little water at midday; hand-tied bouquets for speakers should stay in water until the moment they are presented.
After the event, recipients often take the flowers home. A fresh cut of the stems, cool water and a vase away from radiators will keep roses and chrysanthemums looking good for another week, so a launch bouquet goes on reminding the recipient of your congratulations long after the event.
