MIR Cards: The Domestic Network That Does Work

MIR is Russia's own card payment network, launched by the Central Bank of Russia and now the dominant payment rail inside the country. Any MIR card issued by a Russian bank works without friction on our website and at our point of sale. If you have a relative or close friend in Russia who holds a MIR card, the simplest path is to ask them to place the order on your behalf and reimburse them separately through whatever transfer channel you share. That is not a workaround we invented; it is genuinely how many international clients handle recurring orders for birthdays and anniversaries. MIR cards are also issued to people living outside Russia in a small number of partner countries, including Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and a few others where MIR has bilateral agreements. If you hold residency or a bank account in one of those countries, check whether your local bank offers MIR co-badged cards. Some do, and that card will process a Russian flower delivery order without any issue. One important nuance: MIR cards issued inside Russia are not designed for cross-border use in most Western countries, so this is a one-directional convenience. The card works in Russia; it does not help you pay Western merchants. UnionPay: The Card That Sometimes Bridges the Gap

If you hold a UnionPay card issued by a non-Russian bank, whether that card processes a payment to a Russian merchant depends entirely on which Russian bank is doing the acquiring on our end and whether that bank maintains an active UnionPay settlement agreement. In practice, UnionPay acceptance in Russia is patchy. Some transactions go through cleanly; others are declined at the acquiring stage. We recommend that customers with UnionPay cards attempt a small test transaction first, or contact us directly so we can confirm current gateway status before you commit to a large order. UnionPay cards issued by Russian banks to Russian residents work reliably on our site. If you are ordering from China or another country where UnionPay is the primary retail network, there is a reasonable chance your card will work, but it is not guaranteed in the way a Russian MIR card is guaranteed. If you are sending a seasonal arrangement — say, a thirty-stem bouquet of peonies during the May to June window when they are at peak availability — it is worth resolving the payment question a day in advance rather than on the morning of the delivery.

Bank Transfers and SWIFT: When Cards Are Not the Answer

SWIFT transfers from foreign banks to Russian bank accounts remain possible from some countries and through some correspondent banking chains, though the list of countries where this works without difficulty has narrowed considerably since 2022. Clearing times vary from one to five business days depending on the correspondent bank chain involved. This is not practical for same-day delivery, but it works well for planned orders: a birthday arrangement booked a week in advance, an anniversary delivery scheduled for a specific date. Some customers from the Middle East, Central Asia and parts of Southeast Asia report that SWIFT transfers to Russian banks process without issue through their local banks. Customers from the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada face much greater difficulty because their banks have either restricted Russia-bound transfers or require extensive documentation. Cryptocurrency and Digital Payment Options

A growing share of our international orders are paid in cryptocurrency, specifically Bitcoin and USDT on the TRC-20 network. These payments are not subject to card network suspensions or correspondent banking restrictions, and they clear within minutes rather than days. If you are comfortable using a crypto wallet, this is currently the most reliable payment path for customers ordering from Western countries. We generate a wallet address at checkout, you send the equivalent amount in the chosen currency, and once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain we process the order exactly as we would any other confirmed payment. The bouquet goes out on the same one-to-two-hour schedule. A few practical points: cryptocurrency prices fluctuate, so the conversion rate is fixed at the moment of order confirmation, not at the moment you initiate the transfer. Send the exact amount shown, because under- or over-payment requires manual reconciliation and can delay the order. They do not accept funds from foreign bank accounts directly. However, if you have a trusted contact in Russia who uses either system, the same proxy-order approach described in the MIR section applies: they pay, you reimburse them. SBP in particular is useful because it works across different Russian banks; your contact does not need to be a Sberbank customer. For customers who relocated from Russia and maintain a Russian bank account, SBP is often the easiest option because the account stays active even while the cardholder lives abroad, and the SBP transfer can be initiated from a Russian banking app on a foreign phone. Perishable flowers — ranunculus, anemones, sweet peas — have a narrow freshness window, so the speed of SBP confirmation, which is typically under ten seconds, fits well with same-day delivery logistics.

What to Check Before You Place the Order

Before you finalise any flower order for delivery in Russia, run through this checklist to avoid the situation where payment fails after you have already chosen the bouquet and entered the recipient's address. First, confirm which payment method you will use and test it if possible — a small transaction or a direct message to our team confirming gateway status saves time. Second, check whether the delivery city is covered.
