How to Write an Address in Russia for Flower Delivery

For flower delivery to an address in Russia, give the city, street, building number, any building subdivision, and the flat or office number. Add the recipient’s name and phone number, plus entrance and intercom details where needed. You can write the address in English, but copying the original Russian version alongside it helps avoid ambiguity.

At Pyat Tsvetov (5 Flowers), customers ordering from abroad often have an address copied from a message, an old contact entry or a hotel booking. The useful first step is to check whether that information identifies both the building and the recipient’s door. We have been working since 2011 and have three own flower shops in Saint Petersburg, on Ilyushina Street, Obvodny Canal Embankment and Srednerogatskaya Street; we deliver flowers across Russia.

Turn a Russian address into clear delivery details

Start with the city, then copy the street name and all the numbers that follow it. A Russian address may contain a house number followed by a separate block or structure number, and these details can identify different buildings. Keep their labels attached instead of combining every number into a single string. A postcode is useful supporting information, but it cannot replace the street and building details.

Common address terms include ulitsa for street, dom for house or building, korpus for a building block, stroenie for a structure, and kvartira for a flat. Do not treat korpus and stroenie as interchangeable when copying an address. Preserve any letters, slashes and additional numbers exactly as supplied, because simplifying them can change the destination.

When writing in English, keep the street’s proper name recognisable rather than translating its meaning. If you have the Cyrillic address, include it alongside your English version so there is a clear reference. Our Russian address guide in English explains how to keep the individual parts readable without losing information.

Check access to the recipient, not just the building

A map location can identify the right building while leaving the final approach unclear. For a residential address, check the flat number, entrance number, floor and any intercom instructions you already have. In a large complex, a short factual note about which entrance serves the flat is more useful than a long description of nearby landmarks.

For an office, add the company name, department if relevant, and the recipient’s full name. Check whether the person will actually be at that workplace during the chosen delivery period, especially if you are ordering around a weekend or holiday. Reception arrangements vary, so avoid assuming that an unnamed person at the front desk can accept a personal bouquet.

For a hotel, use the hotel’s full name and street address, together with the name used for the recipient’s booking. Include the room number if you know it, but do not guess one or rely on an old stay. Our guide to sending flowers to a hotel covers the address and etiquette details worth checking before choosing a delivery time.

Choose a delivery time that fits life at the address

When ordering from another country, plan around the time at the destination and the recipient’s likely routine. A home address may be correct but inconvenient during working hours, while an office delivery needs to fit the person’s attendance. Before choosing a slot, check the date as well as the hour, particularly when a time difference could move your order into the following day.

In large cities, express delivery is available in 1–2 hours after the order is confirmed. Other options are delivery at an exact time with a tolerance of plus or minus 30 minutes, or within the windows 09–12, 12–15, 15–18 and 18–21. You can also pre-order 1–30 days ahead. Allow for the stated timing range when planning a greeting around a meal, meeting or departure.

In Saint Petersburg, delivery is available around the clock. City delivery costs 500 RUB; for remote districts and suburbs, the operator confirms the price when confirming the order. Check the destination carefully before treating it as a city address, since the postal wording alone may not make the delivery area obvious. The delivery and payment page is a useful reference while planning your order.

Prepare the order and a discreet personal message

Choose flowers with the recipient and setting in mind, then check the delivery details before submitting the order. When browsing the bouquets catalogue, read the individual description and consider how the bouquet will be received: at home, at a desk or during a hotel stay. A recipient with limited space may appreciate a manageable bouquet more than a large arrangement that is awkward to carry.

In Russian gift-giving, an odd number of stems is customary for a celebratory bouquet when individual flowers are being counted; even numbers are traditionally associated with mourning. Colour meanings are less reliable guides because personal associations vary. If you know the recipient’s favourite flowers or colours, that knowledge gives you a firmer basis for choosing than a universal claim about what a colour means.

Delivery is anonymous by default: the courier does not name the sender. A card with your text is free, so sign the message if you want the recipient to know immediately who sent the flowers. For a workplace delivery, keep personal details out of a message that colleagues might see. A short greeting with a familiar sign-off usually needs less explanation than an unsigned, elaborate declaration.

Check contact details and handle address changes promptly

The recipient’s phone number matters even when every line of the address is correct. The courier calls about 15 minutes before arrival, which helps coordinate the final handover. Check the number digit by digit and include the country code when supplying it from abroad. Remember that an anonymous delivery can still involve this practical call to the recipient.

If you discover an incorrect flat number, a changed workplace or another address problem, call 8 (812) 507-67-05 promptly. Have the order details and the corrected address ready, including the city and any revised access instructions. State exactly what changed rather than sending a second address without explanation. Whether a change can be accommodated depends on the circumstances, so do not assume a submitted correction has already taken effect.

If the recipient is not there, we agree a second delivery the same day or handing the flowers to a neighbour or concierge with the sender’s consent. Think ahead about whether either handover would suit the recipient and the occasion. If leaving flowers with another person would spoil a private greeting, make that preference clear instead of assuming everyone involved will infer it.

Complete checkout and help the flowers settle in

Before paying, review the city, street, building subdivisions, flat or office, recipient’s phone number, delivery date and card text together. This final check is particularly useful when you have copied information between languages or devices. Online checkout uses CloudPayments; check the payment options displayed there for your card. Acceptance of every foreign card is not guaranteed.

For a bouquet of cut flowers, the recipient should use a clean vase and remove leaves that would sit below the waterline. Recut the stem ends with a clean, sharp tool before placing them in fresh water, and follow any flower-specific care instructions supplied. Keep the bouquet away from radiators and direct sun, and check the water daily rather than waiting until the vase looks empty.

If flowers arrive arranged in a container, check how they are held before trying to move them into a vase. An arrangement with floral foam needs water added carefully to keep the foam moist; a tied bouquet standing in water needs the usual vase care. Choose a stable place where the flowers will not obstruct a desk or doorway. Practical placement helps the recipient enjoy the gift without immediately having to rearrange their space.
