Placing the vase away from radiators and out of direct sunlight is not aesthetic advice; it is a practical extension of the sachet's working life. When the Sachet Is Not Enough on Its Own

Tap Water Quality Across Russia and Why It Changes the Equation
Saint Petersburg tap water is drawn from Lake Ladoga and is notably soft and low in mineral content compared to Moscow water, which comes from surface reservoirs and is significantly harder. Hard water contains calcium and magnesium ions that react with the acidifier in flower food, partially neutralising it and raising the effective pH back toward neutral.
