Flowers the Same Day: How Today's Delivery Works in Russia

Flowers can be delivered the same day you order them. Pyat Tsvetov offers express delivery in large Russian cities 1-2 hours after the order is confirmed, or at an exact time or time window later that day. In Saint Petersburg, where our own flower shops are, delivery runs around the clock, so even a late-evening order can still reach the door today.

Same-day orders make up a large share of the calls we take. Usually someone has just remembered a birthday, heard good news or wants to support a friend in hospital, and the first question on the phone is whether the bouquet can be there within the hour. The sections below cover what we tell those customers: how the timing works, how to choose quickly and well, and which details on the order prevent delays.

What customers ask first: can it be there today

In large cities the answer is usually yes. Express delivery arrives 1-2 hours after the order is confirmed, and confirmation itself is quick for a regular city address: the operator checks the bouquet, the address and the time. City delivery costs 500 RUB. For remote districts and suburbs the operator confirms the price at the same moment, before the bouquet is made.

The second question is about precision. If the flowers must arrive at a particular moment, such as before a dinner or at the start of a party, choose an exact time with a margin of plus or minus 30 minutes. If the recipient is simply at home for the afternoon, a window of 12-15 or 15-18 is easier and just as reliable. The windows run 09-12, 12-15, 15-18 and 18-21.

The third question is what happens if nobody opens the door. The courier calls the recipient about 15 minutes before arrival, and if the person is out we agree a second delivery the same day or, with your consent, leave the flowers with a neighbour or the concierge.

To keep the timing realistic, give the operator everything at once: the recipient's mobile number, the full address with entrance, floor and intercom code, and any landmark for a private house or new-build district. Most same-day delays we see come from missing details rather than traffic. A courier who has to call back for an intercom code or search for an unnumbered building loses the time that express delivery was meant to save.

Saint Petersburg: same-day delivery at any hour

Saint Petersburg is where Pyat Tsvetov has worked since 2011, with shops on Ilyushina Street, the Obvodny Canal Embankment and Srednerogatskaya Street. Here delivery is around the clock, which changes what same-day means: an order placed late at night for a husband's or wife's birthday at midnight is a normal request, not an exception.

White nights in June bring a particular kind of order: bouquets for graduates, for proposals on the embankments, for friends who have flown in for the season. In winter the requests shift to cosy compositions and box arrangements that cope with frost and wind on the way from the car. More details on how the city service works are in our article on same-day flower delivery in Saint Petersburg.

Petersburg addresses have their own quirks. Courtyards in the historic centre are often reached through arches and gated passages, and the number on the street may not be the entrance you need. If the recipient lives in a courtyard building, mention which arch to use and whether the gate has a code. In districts like Kupchino or Parnas, where new blocks appear every year, a nearby landmark helps the courier find the right building on the first attempt.

Ordering same-day flowers from another country

Many of our same-day customers are abroad: a daughter in London, a friend in Berlin, a colleague in Dubai. Payment on the site works by bank card, SBP or Yandex Pay, and foreign bank cards are accepted through Robokassa, so there is no need to ask someone in Russia to pay for you. The conditions are on the Delivery and payment page.

Time zones are the main trap. Every time on the order is the recipient's time, and Russia spans eleven zones. Midnight in New York is already morning in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, while Moscow afternoon is late evening in Vladivostok. Check the date and the hour in the recipient's city before choosing express or a window. We explain this in more detail in same-day delivery cut-off times across Russian time zones.

Delivery is anonymous by default: the courier does not name the sender. The card is free, and when you are ordering from far away it is the only part of the gift written by you, so it is worth a few minutes. If you are unsure about wording or an unusual address, call 8 (812) 507-67-05.

Choosing a bouquet quickly without regrets

For a same-day order, choose from ready bouquets in the Bouquets catalogue. They are made from the flowers that are fresh and available at that moment, so the bouquet you see is the bouquet that can actually be assembled within an hour or two. Custom requests for rare varieties are better left for pre-orders, which can be placed 1-30 days ahead.

Match the bouquet to the person, not to the urgency. Mothers and grandmothers usually love roses, chrysanthemums and soft pastel mixes. For colleagues and teachers, a compact bouquet or a box arrangement is practical because it does not need a vase immediately. For a romantic occasion, red or blush roses remain the clearest message.

Hardy flowers suit tight schedules best. Roses, chrysanthemums, carnations, alstroemeria and eucalyptus tolerate the trip and a short wait without losing shape. Peonies, hydrangeas and ranunculus are more fragile; they are a good choice when you know someone will put them in water as soon as they arrive.

Russian flower etiquette in a hurry

Even a rushed bouquet should follow two customs. First, give an odd number of stems for celebrations; even numbers belong to funerals and remembrance, although very large bouquets of 25 stems or more are treated as an exception. Second, avoid white chrysanthemums and white carnations for birthdays, because many people associate them with mourning.

For hospital deliveries, check the ward's rules beforehand, as some do not accept flowers. Strongly scented lilies are best avoided in shared rooms. For offices and business centres, add the company name, floor and a direct mobile number, and choose a working-hours window such as 12-15 so the courier can reach the recipient past the security desk.

After delivery: keeping same-day flowers fresh

A bouquet assembled and delivered within a couple of hours starts its vase life fresh, and a few simple steps keep it that way. Trim the stems by 1-2 cm at an angle, strip leaves below the waterline and use a clean vase with cool water. Change the water every one or two days and re-trim each time.

Keep the vase away from radiators, direct sunlight and the fruit bowl. Central heating in Russian flats dries the air in winter, which is the most common reason flowers fade early. Followed carefully, these steps give roses and chrysanthemums a week or more, and carnations and alstroemeria often two.
