Flowers Overseas Delivery: How to Send a Bouquet to Another Country

Yes, you can send flowers overseas with Pyat Tsvetov: we deliver to 53 countries and more than 1630 cities, including the USA, the United Kingdom, Poland, France, Spain, Egypt, Germany and Canada. You order on the country or city page, write your card text and pay online in rubles; the price is already converted and already includes delivery.

Overseas delivery works in both directions for our customers. Some live in Saint Petersburg and want to surprise a sister in Berlin or a friend in Toronto; others live abroad and want flowers to reach parents in Russia. Below we explain both routes, how to prepare the address and the card, how to deal with time zones, and which flowers travel best as a gift in different cultures.

How an overseas order works

All countries and cities we deliver to are listed on the flower delivery abroad page. It is in Russian, so if you do not read Russian, use the country names in the list as a guide or ask someone to help you with the form. The order itself follows the same steps as inside Russia: choose a bouquet on the country or city page, enter the recipient's address and your card text, and pay.

Payment is online on our site by bank card, SBP or Yandex Pay. Foreign bank cards are accepted as well, with payment going through Robokassa, so a customer living abroad does not need a Russian card. The ruble price you see for an overseas bouquet is the final one: delivery is included and the conversion is already done.

Keep in mind that the 500 RUB delivery fee and our express and time-window options apply to Russian cities. For an overseas bouquet, choose the date carefully and, if anything about the address is unusual, call us on 8 (812) 507-67-05 before placing the order.

Preparing the address and the recipient's details

Address formats differ from country to country, and most delivery problems start here. Copy the address exactly as the recipient uses it for post, including the postcode, the flat or unit number and the building name if there is one. In the UK the postcode alone narrows the address to a few houses; in Germany and France the postcode comes before the city; in the US the house number comes before the street.

Always include the recipient's phone number with the international dialling code. If the recipient works in an office, add the company name and floor. If you are planning a surprise and do not want to ask for the address directly, ask a relative or flatmate instead of guessing.

Check the spelling of the recipient's name in Latin letters as it appears on their door or post box. A Russian surname can be transliterated in several ways, and a courier abroad will look for the name exactly as it is written. Add a note if the building has an entry code or a reception desk.

Time zones and the right date

When flowers go overseas, the date that matters is the recipient's local date. Saint Petersburg is several hours ahead of Western Europe and many more hours ahead of North America, so a birthday that has already started for you may still be the day before for them. Choose the delivery date in their calendar, not yours.

Allow some margin for big flower days. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day (which falls on different dates in different countries: in the UK it is in March, in the US and Canada in May) and Christmas are the busiest days of the year in any country. Order a few days earlier for those dates, and if the date is fixed, such as a wedding or a funeral, order as soon as you know it.

For a funeral or a memorial service abroad, check where the flowers should go: to the family home, to the church or to the funeral home. Ask a relative for the exact address and the time of the service, and order so that the bouquet arrives before it starts rather than during.

Choosing flowers for another culture

Flower etiquette is not universal. In Russia an odd number of stems is given for happy occasions and an even number for mourning; in most of Europe and North America nobody counts, and a dozen roses is a standard romantic gift. In Germany red roses are strictly romantic, so for a colleague choose another colour. In France chrysanthemums are linked with cemeteries and are best avoided as a cheerful gift.

White flowers mean mourning in parts of Asia, while in Europe and the US they are popular for weddings and new babies. Yellow is friendly and bright in the US and the UK, but in Russia older people sometimes read it as a sign of parting. If you are unsure, a mixed bouquet in soft pinks, peaches and greenery is welcome almost everywhere.

Write the card in the language the recipient reads best. Short is fine: Happy birthday, love from Saint Petersburg says more than a long paragraph in uncertain grammar. Sign your name, because delivery is anonymous by default and the courier does not say who the flowers are from.

Sending flowers to Russia from overseas

If you live abroad, ordering flowers to Russia is the easier direction. We deliver across Russia. City delivery costs 500 RUB; for remote districts and suburbs the operator confirms the price when confirming the order. In large cities express delivery takes 1 to 2 hours after the order is confirmed, or you can choose an exact time (plus or minus 30 minutes), a window of 09-12, 12-15, 15-18 or 18-21, or pre-order 1 to 30 days ahead.

In Saint Petersburg we deliver around the clock, which is useful when you are in a very different time zone and want flowers to arrive first thing in the morning or late in the evening. Pyat Tsvetov has worked since 2011 and has three of its own flower shops in the city, on Ilyushina Street, Obvodny Canal Embankment and Srednerogatskaya Street.

The courier calls the recipient about 15 minutes before arrival. If the recipient is out, we agree a second delivery the same day or, with your consent, leave the flowers with a neighbour or concierge. Read about planning from a distance in our article on sending flowers to Krasnokamsk from abroad, and see what is available in our bouquets catalogue.

Helping the bouquet last on the other side

A bouquet that has been delivered to another country should be treated like any other bouquet: unwrap it, cut 1 to 2 cm off the stems at an angle, strip the leaves below the water line and put it in clean, cool water. Add the flower food sachet if there is one.

Changing the water every two days and recutting the stems adds several days of life. Keep the vase away from radiators, sunny windows and fruit. A short care note in the card is a thoughtful touch, especially for someone who rarely receives flowers. We deliver bouquets across Russia in 1–2 hours.
