Sending an Engagement Bouquet to Someone in Russia

To send a bouquet to celebrate an engagement, choose flowers the couple will enjoy, add a card congratulating them both, and arrange delivery to an address where they can receive it. For delivery in Russia, select a bouquet from our Bouquets catalogue, provide the recipient’s details and check the payment options displayed at checkout. Sign the card if you want them to know who sent it, because our delivery is anonymous by default.
Customers at Pyat Tsvetov (5 Flowers) often need help with three decisions: how romantic the flowers should look, whose name belongs on the card and when the gift should arrive. An engagement bouquet can be warm and celebratory without looking like a bridal bouquet or suggesting that a wedding date has been set. We have been serving customers since 2011 and have three flower shops in Saint Petersburg; the advice below starts with choosing a gift that suits the couple’s tastes and circumstances.
Choose flowers that reflect the couple’s taste
Start with a favourite flower or colour if you know one, then consider how the bouquet will look in the couple’s home. A soft palette of cream, pink and lilac can feel gentle and affectionate, while brighter colours suit people who enjoy a more lively arrangement. Neither approach is a rule for engagements, and white flowers are not reserved exclusively for weddings. A colour they already love is a stronger reason for choosing a bouquet than a supposed universal meaning.
Roses are a familiar choice for an affectionate gift, while eustoma offers a softer outline with several buds and flowers along its stems. If you are sending as a friend or relative, a mixed bouquet can express congratulations without the strong romantic association of an all-red rose arrangement. Our guide to an eustoma bouquet can help you consider that flower in more detail. If either recipient is sensitive to fragrance, make scent a priority when deciding which flowers to send.
Keep engagement etiquette personal and considerate
Address your congratulations to both people, even when you know only one of them well. You can still choose flowers around your friend’s preferences while making the message inclusive of their partner. In Russian gift-giving, bouquets with an even number of flowers are traditionally associated with mourning, so an odd number is the customary choice when sending a clearly counted group of stems. For a mixed arrangement, focus on its overall appearance rather than trying to count every small flower or bud.
Think about where the gift will be received before choosing its size. A couple returning from a trip or moving between celebrations may find a manageable bouquet easier to carry and put in water than a very large one. If the engagement has only been shared privately, keep the delivery and message equally discreet, especially at a workplace. Flowers should acknowledge the news at the couple’s pace; avoid using the card to announce details they have not chosen to share themselves.
Bouquets we can deliver
Write a card that makes the sender clear
A useful engagement message has three parts: both names, a direct expression of congratulations and your signature. For example: “Anna and Daniel, congratulations on your engagement! Wishing you much happiness as you plan your life together. With love, Maria.” Use the language the couple normally reads, and check names carefully if you are writing across languages. A short, specific message usually feels warmer than a long formal greeting copied from a wedding card.
At Pyat Tsvetov, a card with your text is free, and the courier does not name the sender by default. That makes your signature especially useful when flowers are travelling from family or friends abroad. You might add a personal line such as “We were so happy to hear your news,” but leave out pressure about wedding dates, children or invitations. If several people are sending together, name the group clearly so the couple can understand whom the congratulations come from.
Choose a delivery time that suits their plans
Send the bouquet once you know the engagement news is ready to be acknowledged, then choose a time when someone can receive the flowers. A home delivery can work well for a private celebration, while delivery before an engagement gathering gives the couple time to find a vase and arrange the stems. Avoid scheduling flowers for the moment they are leaving for a restaurant or travelling elsewhere. When you are ordering from another country, check the recipient’s local date and time before choosing the delivery slot.
We deliver across Russia, with express delivery in large cities available within 1–2 hours after the order is confirmed. Other choices are delivery at an exact time with a margin of plus or minus 30 minutes, or the windows 09–12, 12–15, 15–18 and 18–21; orders can also be placed 1–30 days ahead. Delivery in Saint Petersburg is available around the clock. For an occasion tied to a particular hour, allow for the stated timing margin and choose a slot that leaves time to receive and unpack the bouquet.
Place the order with complete recipient details
Prepare the recipient’s name, phone number and full delivery address before ordering, including the flat or office number and useful access details. Use a phone number on which the recipient can be reached, because the courier calls about 15 minutes before arrival. A surprise is easier to manage when the flowers are unexpected but the recipient is still available to answer the phone. If they are absent, we agree a second delivery that day or hand the flowers to a neighbour or concierge with the sender’s consent.
City delivery costs 500 RUB; for remote districts and suburbs, the operator confirms the delivery price when confirming the order. Online checkout uses CloudPayments, so check the options displayed there before relying on a particular card, especially if you are ordering from abroad. Review the address, card wording and selected timing together before completing the order, and consult our Delivery and payment page for the practical details. Questions can be discussed by phone on 8 (812) 507-67-05.
Help the flowers settle in after delivery
An engagement bouquet needs a clean vase and fresh water soon after it arrives. Remove the transport wrapping as needed to free the stems, trim their ends with a clean, sharp tool and remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline. Keep decorative ties only if they allow the stems to sit comfortably in the vase without crowding them. If the bouquet includes flower food, follow the packet instructions rather than guessing the concentration or adding household ingredients.
Place the vase away from radiators, direct sunlight and ripening fruit, and check the water level every day. Refresh the water regularly, clean the vase when changing it and remove fading flowers or leaves as they appear. Different flowers open and age at different speeds, so a mixed bouquet may need a little rearranging as individual stems fade. If the couple will be busy hosting guests, a brief personal note reminding them to put the flowers in water is more useful than a long list of care instructions.
