How to Send Flowers to Someone in Another State

To send flowers to someone in another state, choose a delivery service that covers the recipient’s address, select a bouquet, and provide their phone number, delivery date and a personal message. If your recipient is in Russia, Pyat Tsvetov (5 Flowers) delivers across Russia; enter the destination details and check the delivery and payment information before completing your order.
Customers often come to us with a date in mind but only part of an address, or with a favourite flower but no idea what size bouquet will suit the occasion. Those details matter more than the distance between you. We have run our Saint Petersburg flower shops since 2011, and our advice starts with the recipient’s day: where they will be, what they enjoy and how comfortably they can receive the flowers.
Start with the destination and a usable address
The word “state” may describe a US destination, while someone sending to Russia may mean another region or city. Establish the destination country first, then check coverage for the actual address. Our delivery service covers Russia; that coverage should not be read as a promise of delivery to a US state or another country.
Write down the recipient’s name, city, street, building and flat or office number, together with their phone number. Add entrance details or access instructions if you know them, and check ambiguous spellings with the recipient when practical. A familiar landmark can help explain an address, but it should accompany the full address rather than stand in for it.
For a workplace delivery, consider whether the person will be at that location on the chosen date and whether they can take the flowers home comfortably. A home address may suit someone working remotely or spending the day with family. If you are arranging delivery to Russia from overseas, our guide to sending flowers to Russia explains the destination-specific considerations.
Choose flowers for the person and the occasion
Begin with a preference you actually know: a favourite colour, a flower they mention or the style of their home. A compact bouquet can be easier to place on a desk or carry home after work. A larger arrangement needs more room, so think about where the recipient will put it before choosing solely for visual impact.
In Russian gift-giving, an odd number of flowers is customary for celebratory bouquets when individual stems are counted; even numbers are associated with mourning. This is especially relevant when choosing a small bouquet with an obvious stem count. For a birthday, romantic occasion or thank-you, the card should make your intention clear without relying entirely on flower symbolism.
Red roses commonly suggest romance, but colour meanings vary between people and families. If you are sending flowers to a colleague or someone you have only recently met, their known tastes and a straightforward message are better guides than a supposed universal meaning. Browse the bouquets catalogue with the occasion, available space and recipient’s preferences in mind.
If the recipient is sensitive to fragrance, choose with that in mind rather than assuming every flower is equally suitable indoors. For a home with pets, check the safety of the specific flowers before ordering; lilies are particularly dangerous to cats. When you cannot establish a relevant preference or safety detail, avoid making your choice depend on that uncertainty.
Bouquets we can deliver
Plan around the recipient’s local day
Choose the delivery date using the recipient’s calendar and local time, especially when you are ordering from abroad. A birthday morning in your country may already be the afternoon or evening at the destination. Check the local date before checkout, and think about meetings, travel or family plans that could make an otherwise convenient time difficult.
In large cities, express delivery is available within 1–2 hours after the order is confirmed. Other scheduling options are an exact time with a tolerance of plus or minus 30 minutes, or the windows 09–12, 12–15, 15–18 and 18–21. Orders can also be placed 1–30 days ahead, which gives you a practical way to arrange an occasion before travel or a busy working week.
Treat the confirmation of the order as the starting point for an express delivery estimate. If the gift needs to arrive before someone leaves home, allow room for the stated timing tolerance instead of choosing their departure time. Delivery in Saint Petersburg is available around the clock; do not assume that the same hours apply elsewhere in Russia.
Check the order, delivery charge and payment
Before paying, review the bouquet, recipient’s contact details, address, delivery date and card text together. Reading the complete order once often reveals a missing flat number or a date selected in the wrong month. If someone helped you obtain the address, make sure their phone number has not accidentally replaced the recipient’s number.
City delivery costs 500 RUB. For remote districts and suburbs, the operator confirms the delivery price when confirming the order, so an address outside the city needs that additional check. Consult our delivery and payment information when planning the order, and keep any important access or timing details clear and concise.
Online checkout uses CloudPayments. If you are paying from another country, check the options displayed at checkout rather than assuming your card will be accepted. For questions about the order or details you need to clarify, call 8 (812) 507-67-05; do not plan the occasion around a payment you have not successfully completed.
Make the surprise thoughtful and easy to receive
Delivery is anonymous by default: the courier does not name the sender. A card with your text is free, so include your name there if you want the recipient to know who sent the flowers. This is particularly helpful for a long-distance gift, where an unsigned bouquet might leave the person unsure whom to thank.
Keep the card specific enough to sound like you. Mention the occasion, add one personal detail and sign it in the way the recipient normally knows you. For a colleague, a brief thank-you can be enough; for someone close, a shared memory may mean more than a formal declaration. Avoid private information that could be awkward if the card is seen at work.
The courier calls the recipient about 15 minutes before arrival, so the surprise includes practical contact before the handover. If the recipient is absent, we agree a second delivery the same day or handing the flowers to a neighbour or concierge with the sender’s consent. Consider whether either handover option would suit the person, especially when privacy matters.
Help the bouquet settle in after delivery
For cut flowers, a clean vase and fresh water are useful first steps once the bouquet arrives. Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline, then trim the stem ends with a clean, sharp tool before placing them in water. Keep the arrangement’s shape in mind as you work, and avoid forcing a large bunch into a vase with a narrow opening.
Place the flowers away from direct sun, radiators and ripening fruit. Check the water regularly, replenish it as needed and change it when it becomes cloudy, cleaning the vase at the same time. Remove fading stems as the bouquet develops; different flowers can age at different rates, so one tired bloom does not mean the whole bouquet has finished.
If the flowers arrive in a container with floral foam, keep that material moist rather than treating the arrangement exactly like loose stems in a vase. Follow any care information supplied for the particular flowers or format. A short message after delivery can share these practical tips, but let the recipient enjoy the gift without feeling obliged to stage a photograph or reply immediately.
