Russia ZIP and Postal Codes: How to Address a Flower Delivery

Russia uses six-digit postal codes, and there is no single ZIP code for the whole country. If a form asks for a “Russia ZIP”, enter the postal code for the recipient’s specific address. ZIP Code is the American term; in Russia, the equivalent is a postal code.
Customers arranging flowers from abroad often have a street address saved in an old message but are missing the postal code, flat number or entrance details. At Pyat Tsvetov (5 Flowers), our approach starts with making that address clear enough for a courier to use. We have been working since 2011 and have three flower shops in Saint Petersburg, so the practical details of reaching someone matter as much to us as the bouquet itself.
Find the postal code for the exact address
A Russian postal code identifies a postal delivery area, rather than serving as a country identifier. Large cities have many codes, so knowing only “Moscow” or “Saint Petersburg” does not establish the correct one. Search using the city, street and building number together, and check that the result corresponds to the address you actually have.
The most reliable starting point is the recipient’s complete address, copied from information they have already confirmed. If the code is missing, use the official Russian Post postcode lookup and match the building as well as the street. A general search result for a city centre or a nearby landmark can point to a different postal area.
Keep the code as six digits when copying it into a form, including any initial zero. Do not substitute a telephone country code, a bank code or a convenient string of zeros. If two sources disagree, check the full address again before ordering; a plausible-looking code is less useful than a verified one.
Write an address that a courier can follow
Prepare the recipient’s name, city or settlement, street, building number and flat or office number. Include the region when it helps distinguish places with the same name. Put each detail in its corresponding checkout field where available, and keep the complete address together in your own notes so you can check what you entered.
Russian addresses can distinguish a main building number from a building block or a separate structure. Preserve those distinctions when copying an address into English letters, rather than reducing everything to one number. A flat number also needs its own label, because an unexplained sequence of numbers can be mistaken for part of the building address.
For a workplace, add the organisation’s name and useful reception or entrance information. For a home, include any entrance or intercom details the recipient has provided, without guessing missing access instructions. The postal code helps identify the area, but it cannot tell the courier which door leads to the recipient.
Bouquets we can deliver
Check the delivery location before choosing a time
We deliver flowers across Russia, and city delivery costs 500 RUB. For remote districts and suburbs, the operator confirms the delivery price when confirming the order. Check the actual settlement and address rather than relying on the name of the nearest large city, especially when sending flowers to a home outside the urban area.
In large cities, express delivery is available in 1–2 hours after the order is confirmed. You can also arrange delivery at an exact time within a margin of plus or minus 30 minutes, or choose a window of 09–12, 12–15, 15–18 or 18–21. These options make it useful to establish when the recipient will be at the address before deciding on a delivery slot.
Orders can be placed 1–30 days ahead, which helps when planning a birthday or another fixed occasion from abroad. Check the time difference between your location and the recipient’s city so that your intended day and hour are clear. Delivery is around the clock in Saint Petersburg; see our delivery and payment information when planning the order.
Prepare the recipient’s details without spoiling the gesture
Have the recipient’s telephone number ready along with the address. Our courier calls about 15 minutes before arrival, so the recipient should be able to answer near the chosen delivery time. A correct postal code cannot compensate for an incomplete address or an unreachable recipient when the courier needs access details.
Delivery is anonymous by default: the courier does not name the sender. A card with your text is free, so sign that message if you want the recipient to know who sent the flowers. For a colleague or a newer acquaintance, a clear name and a brief explanation of the occasion can prevent an otherwise pleasant gift from causing confusion.
If the recipient is not there, we agree a second delivery the same day or handing the flowers to a neighbour or concierge with the sender’s consent. For an office, consider whether the person will be in meetings or away from the building during the selected window. Choose a time when receiving the bouquet is practical, rather than assuming someone else will be available to take it.
Choose flowers that suit the person and the setting
Once the address is settled, choose the bouquet for the recipient’s circumstances. A manageable arrangement is practical for someone who will carry it home from work, while a larger bouquet needs more space and a suitable vase. Start with the person’s preferred colours and flowers in the bouquets catalogue, then consider where the gift will be received.
For many Russian recipients, an odd number of stems is the familiar convention for a celebratory gift when individual flowers are being counted. Even numbers are traditionally associated with mourning, so take care when choosing a simple, counted bunch. Colour meanings are less dependable as a guide to an individual’s taste; a short card communicates your intention more clearly than symbolism alone.
For a workplace gift, keep the wording appropriate to the relationship and avoid a message that could feel unexpectedly intimate. If the occasion is professional, name the achievement or anniversary directly. Our guide to flowers for a Russian colleague’s work anniversary offers more context for choosing a gesture that fits the setting.
Review checkout and help the bouquet settle in
Before checkout, compare the entered address with your original source, checking every building detail and all six postal-code digits. Review the recipient’s telephone number, selected date, delivery time and card text in the same pass. Reading the details as one complete set makes it easier to notice a missing flat number or a date chosen for the wrong time zone.
Online checkout uses CloudPayments. Check the payment options displayed at checkout, particularly if you are ordering from abroad, because acceptance of every foreign card is not guaranteed. For questions about the order or delivery details, call 8 (812) 507-67-05 and have the recipient’s city and address ready.
Once the bouquet arrives, the recipient can prepare a clean vase, remove leaves that would sit below the waterline and trim the stem ends with a clean cutting tool. Use fresh water and follow any care instructions supplied for the flowers, since different stems can need different treatment. Keep the bouquet away from direct heat and check the water regularly, removing fading flowers as needed.
