Envoyer des Fleurs Anonymement: How to Send Flowers to Russia Without Your Name
Envoyer des fleurs anonymement, sending flowers anonymously, is simple with Pyat Tsvetov: every delivery is anonymous by default, so the courier hands over the bouquet without naming the sender. You order online from any country, write the card or leave it blank, and we deliver across Russia, with city delivery costing 500 RUB.
We have run our own flower shops in Saint Petersburg since 2011, and anonymous orders are among the most common requests we get, from French, Belgian, Swiss and Canadian customers as often as from Russians. The questions are nearly always the same, so below are the answers we give at the counter and on the phone, in the order people usually ask them.
What the recipient is told at the door
The first thing customers ask is whether the courier will give their name away. He will not. Anonymous delivery is our standard, not an extra option, and the courier says only that there is a flower delivery for the person named in the order. If the recipient asks who sent it, the answer is that the sender preferred not to be named.
About 15 minutes before arrival the courier calls the recipient to make sure someone is at home. This call does not reveal anything about you either: it is a practical check so the bouquet does not wait on the doorstep. For that reason we always ask for the recipient's phone number, even in fully anonymous orders.
If the person is not there, we agree a second delivery the same day, or hand the flowers to a neighbour or the concierge, but only with your consent. If you want to stay completely invisible, say in the order comment whether a neighbour may receive the bouquet, so the operator does not need to contact you during the day.
Signed, unsigned or a hint: choosing the card
A card with your text is free, and the card is where anonymity is really decided. Leave it blank and the recipient has only the flowers. Write a short line without a signature, such as 'For the most beautiful smile on Nevsky', and the gift becomes a pleasant mystery. Add a hint only the recipient will understand, a shared joke or the name of a café, and you get the best of both: discretion and recognition.
French speakers often ask whether they can write the card in French. Yes: the card carries the text you write in the order, so put it exactly as you want it to read. A short phrase like 'Pense à toi' or 'Joyeux anniversaire' looks elegant, and many recipients in Russia read it with pleasure even if they do not speak French well.
Avoid initials, handwriting styles or pet names that only one person in the recipient's life would use, unless you want to be found out. People are surprisingly good detectives when they receive anonymous roses.
Bouquets we can deliver
Which flowers suit an anonymous gift
The bouquet itself sends a message, so match it to the relationship. Red roses from an unknown sender read as romantic interest, and some recipients find that exciting while others find it unsettling. For a colleague, a former teacher or someone you simply want to thank, choose soft mixed bouquets with eustoma, spray roses or chrysanthemums in pastel or bright cheerful tones.
In Russian tradition, small bouquets for happy occasions have an odd number of stems, because even numbers are associated with funerals. With a bouquet of 5, 7 or 11 roses this matters; with 25 or 51 stems nobody counts. Yellow flowers once meant separation, and older recipients may still notice it, so for an anonymous gift we usually advise warmer, less ambiguous colours.
Our bouquets catalogue is organised by occasion and size. For an anonymous surprise, a medium bouquet that fits into a normal vase is the safest choice: very large arrangements in a small flat can feel more like pressure than a compliment.
Ordering from abroad: payment, time and address
Payment is made online on the site by bank card, SBP or Yandex Pay, and foreign bank cards are accepted, with payment processed via Robokassa. This matters for anonymity too: the recipient never sees the payment, and nothing about the order is sent to them except the bouquet and the card. City delivery costs 500 RUB; for suburbs and remote districts the operator confirms the price when confirming the order.
Choose the time in the recipient's local time, not yours. Paris is one hour behind Saint Petersburg in winter and two hours behind in summer, while Montreal is seven or eight hours behind. In large cities express delivery takes 1-2 hours after the order is confirmed; you can also set an exact time within 30 minutes, a window of 09-12, 12-15, 15-18 or 18-21, or pre-order 1 to 30 days ahead.
In Saint Petersburg delivery is around the clock, which some customers use for a bouquet that arrives at midnight on a birthday. For the address, give the street, building, entrance, floor and flat, plus the intercom code if you know it. All conditions are collected on the delivery and payment page.
Keeping the secret without causing worry
A good anonymous gift is a pleasant puzzle, not a source of anxiety. We have seen recipients delighted by a mystery bouquet and others who spent the evening worrying about who knows their address. If the relationship is new or uncertain, a hint in the card or a reveal a day later keeps the gesture kind.
Anonymous delivery is not suitable for someone who has asked you not to contact them. Our couriers deliver flowers, not messages that the recipient does not want, and we expect senders to respect that. For everyone else, from a shy admirer to a family member planning a surprise, anonymity simply makes the moment more fun.
If you want to be identified later, keep the order confirmation and tell the recipient which day and time the flowers arrived. We wrote more about this in our guide to what the recipient actually sees.
After delivery: helping the bouquet last
An anonymous bouquet often stays on the table longer, because the recipient keeps looking at it and wondering. Help it last by trimming the stems by two or three centimetres at an angle, removing leaves below the waterline and changing the water every two days. Keep the vase away from radiators, which are very warm in Russian flats in winter, and from fruit bowls.
Drooping roses can usually be revived: recut the stems under running water and stand them in deep, cool water for an hour or two. Eustoma opens new buds over several days, so the bouquet changes and even improves during the first week. Chrysanthemums are the most patient of all and often outlast everything else in a mixed bouquet, which is one reason we like them for gifts to older relatives.
Roses, eustoma and chrysanthemums handled this way usually stay fresh for a week or longer. Boxes and baskets with floral foam only need a little water added to the foam every day. If you have any questions before ordering, call us on 8 (812) 507-67-05.
